Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Challenge St Helens 2008 has been a massive success with 573 runners taking part in the inaugural challenge. We aim to build on this success for next year and will be hoping to see over 1500 people taking part in September 2009.

Sponsorship

Please send all sponsorship money to Challenge St Helens Ltd. along with your sponsorship form so we know which charity to pass it on to. (Please make any cheques payable to Challenge St Helens Ltd..) We would like to make the cheque presentations to the charities by the end of September so please send in your sponsorship money as soon as possible.

NB: Every penny of your sponsorship money will go to your chosen charity.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Participants
Thank you to everyone who came along on Sunday 14th September 2008 and either took part or cheered on the runners. Judging by some of the kind words we have already received it seems everyone had a great day and we will find out soon just how much money we have raised for each charity.

Sponsors
The event would not have been possible without the help of many different people. We would like the thank the main sponsors Pilkington, Mayfield, Church Square Shopping Centre and James Edwards Land Rover for their financial support. A special thank you goes to Halton and St Helens NHS Primary Care Trust who, besides their financial contribution, very generously handed out vast quantities of promotional merchandise on the day to really push home the health and wellbeing ethos of the event.

Media Partners
Thanks also to our Media Partners WishFM and and St Helens STAR, who have been instrumental in creating awareness of the event and who we look forward to working with next year. Many Thanks to WishFM DJ Chris Millow who did a fantastic job in creating a great party atmosphere on the day whilst keeping everyone informed on proceedings.

Volunteers
We would also like the thank all the volunteers who very kindly gave up their Sunday to help with stewarding the event and doing a great job in looking after the safety of all our runners.

Planning
A special thanks to the people who made it all happen, specifically Sharon Dutton (Bitopia), Grace Bennett (Macmillan), Tracey Morgan (Macmillan), Helen Mellor (Willowbrook Hospice), Nicky Saunders (Willowbrook Hospice) and of course, the man with the plan Carl Lane (FOMO) who created the fantastic 5k route. We would also like to thank Suzanne Davies (St Helens Council), John Herriott (St Helens Council), Dave Taylor (Merseyside Police) and Andy Henderson (Merseyside Police) for their guidance and support in creating a safe, well thought out Town Centre event. A big thank you is due to Chief Superintendent Chris Armitt who kindly sanctioned the road closures for the event.

Saints Players
A special thanks goes to Ade Gardner, Bryn Hargreaves and James Graham who came along on the day to add a bit of a sparkle, giving the Saints fans amongst us the opportunity to pose for a snap with our rugby league heroes.

Good luck with the play-off against Leeds guys!

Contributors
Thanks to the G4S stewards who did a great job enforcing the road closures and who provided the radios with which the event was controlled. Thanks to Costco who were kind enough to provide 700 bottles of water for the runners as well as a selection of sandwiches and snacks to keep the event staff going. Thanks to the Territorial Army Engineers who built the ramps to get everyone safely across the railway line. Thanks to Ron Helsby at the World of Glass for allowing us to route the 5K run through his car park. Thanks to Ade Smith of Shoot 4 Goal who did a great job in providing the awesome start/finish arch and the goal shoot out. Thanks to Mayfield who arranged the crowd barriers and to Stuart Wilmott and his team from UK Road Services who stepped in at the last minute to handle the Traffic Management. A special thanks is due to Keith Hughes at Vinyline who pulled out the stops to deliver all the signage for the event in record time and at a very reasonable price. The artwork on all the marketing materials was the work of local creative genius Stephen Palfrey of Palfrey Greer and we are deeply indebted to Stephen and his team for their contribution.

Others
Thanks also go out to the other sponsors Natwest and Livesey Spottiswood who supported the event with banner advertising and finally a heartfelt thank you to everyone who played any part in helping to ensure the success of Challenge St Helens 2008.

We can't wait to do it all again next year!
